Migration processes in the Asia-Pacific region: history, modernity, practices of interaction and regulation

       Far Eastern Federal University in partnership with Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Institute for Social and Political Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Economic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences Far East Branch, supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, ANCO “Agency for the human capital development in the Far East” is holding the II International Research and Practical Conference "Migration processes and their influence on the socio-economic and demographic development of the Russian Far East” on June 4-5, 2018.

      The Conference is devoted to the wide range of issues, affecting the migration processes, demographic and socio-economic development of the Russian Far East areas   and is held in the course of the international scientific events of the project "Migration Bridges in Eurasia - 2018". The conference is meant to be the public scientific and instructional platform promoting drawing up the agenda of the Eastern Economic Forum.

     Representatives of the expert, scientific and business communities, the public, Diplomatic and Consular Services, state authorities, whose powers include socio-economic development issues of the Russian Far East, public figures and persons taking interest in the issues under consideration are invited to participate in the Conference.

     The Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee is Elena B. Gafforova, Director, School of Economics and Management, Far Eastern Federal University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor.

     Co-chair is Marina N. Khramova, Deputy Director for international and educational activities, Institute for Socio-Political Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Associate Professor, the Department of Demographic and Migration Policy of the MGIMO (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

     Chairman of the Program Committee of the Conference is Sergey V. Ryazantsev, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Director of the Institute for Socio-Political Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Demographic and Migration Policy Department, the MGIMO (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Co-chairmen is Victor G. Belkin, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Adviser to the Director of the School of Economics and Management,   Far Eastern Federal University.

Guidelines of the Conference include:

  • Russian Far East demographic development: internal resources, issues and prospects
  • Space and people: models for the Siberia and the Russian Far East development.
  • International migration and the Far East development: models and assumptions.
  • Migrants and the host community:  adaptation, integration and ethnicity issues
  • Modern tools for analyzing demographic and migration processes in the context of the digital economy development.
  • Economic factors of the Russian Far East areas development.
    The reports on the topics announced,   selected by the Conference Organizing Committee on the basis of the materials sent by the authors will be presented at each section. The participants of the Conference will be awarded the certificates.

    School-Seminar for Young Scientists "Far East for People: How to Study the Demographic and Migration Issues of the Area Development" and practical round table "Features of Labor Migration in the Russian Far East" are planned to be held as the part of the Conference. The conference will be held at the FEFU campus on Russkiy Island, Vladivostok.  

  Preliminary schedule of the Conference:

  • plenary meeting - June 4, 2018;
  • sections - June 4-5, 2018.
Working languages of the Conference will be English and Russian. Reports and presentations can be presented both in Russian and in English. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the plenary meeting on June 4, 2018.

Proceedings of the Conference will have been published by the beginning of the Conference. The costs of travelling and accommodation are to be covered by the participants. Foreign participants are required to inform the Organizing Committee in advance about booking a hotel if needed

 Arrangement fee: 
 500 rubles - for students, undergraduates and postgraduates; 
 1500 rubles – for FEFU employees and other participants of the Conference. 
 Moderators of the sections as well as the key speakers and honorary guests are exempt from paying the Agreement fee. The participants of the conference will be provided with the necessary information materials, as well as with the   Proceedings of the Conference. Plenary sessions, sections, round table will be provided with the necessary office equipment.
