The network Master's Specialization in Physics of Nonlinear Phenomena under the Theoretical Physics Program is launched by Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in cooperation with the University of Tours (France). Students are expected to study in an international team of leading scientists and to undertake work placements in international scientific centers: RIKEN (Tokyo), CERN (Geneva), GSI (Darmstadt), and ESFR (Grenoble).

According to Alexander Molochkov, the Head of the Theoretical Physics Program, FEFU School of Natural Sciences, the new program is aimed at young talented researchers—Bachelors who are passionate about Physics of Nonlinear Phenomena—from elementary particles to the Universe. In the first year, students will master the basic courses, and in the second year, they will undertake work placement; from the first day they will actively participate in joint scientific projects of FEFU, the University of Tours, and other leading world centers.

"To date, our research topics cover the study of the Casimir effect, the application of gauge field theory for solving problems in the field of condensed state physics and structural biology, and quantum chromodynamics at finite density and temperature. The latter is directly related to the experimental study of the structure of matter, which are conducted at the Large Hadron Collider in CERN, accelerators in the GSI facilities and are planned under the Russian NICA project. Our students will do work placements in these scientific centers," said Alexander Molochkov.

Master's Program in Physics of Nonlinear Phenomena is an interdisciplinary one. According to Alexander Molochkov, simultaneously with Mathematical Physics and Condensed Matter Physics, there are applied problems of Biomedicine, Pharmacology and Biology. Currently, the Center for Chiral Biophotonics is being formed in the FEFU School of Biomedicine together with RIKEN, the largest research center of Japan. It will allow undergraduates to solve modern scientific problems in the field of studying proteins, quantum materials, transmission, processing, and storage of information in living matter.

Students of the new program will be trained in Russian and English. Top-professors and leading scientists from RIKEN, the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, and the University of Kyoto (Japan), the University of Stockholm and the University of Uppsala (Sweden), Stony Brook University (USA), NORDITA, the Nordic Institute of Theoretical Physics, and others.
