Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) has completed the season of international summer schools for students and teachers from the Asia-Pacific region. During the three summer months, the University has held six cultural and academic programs for 220 citizens of China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and other countries.

The participants of the summer schools have studied Russian language and culture, and learned more about the Far Eastern Federal University and Vladivostok while taking the city tours. Students and teachers have also attended workshops on the Matryoshka doll-painting and Russian pelmeni cooking, and learned to perform Russian national dances. The academic part of the program consisted of lectures and practical classes from University professors and invited experts.

"This year the University held a record-breaking number of summer schools where we have seen a significant increase in the number of schools and the number of their participants," said Ivan Pisarev, the head of the Office of FEFU Promotion and Organization of International Events. "After completion of such large-scale events, we get a lot of positive feedback from the students and staff of the foreign partner universities with whom we organize these summer schools."

A series of international summer school programs of 2018 was completed by the Russia - Far East Summer School held at the University on August 9-29. International students have received their certificates of participation during a special awarding ceremony.

"The Summer School program was very interesting and exciting. We have improved our knowledge of the Russian language, have studied Russian culture, and made friends with peers from other countries," said a participant of the Russia Far East Summer School from China Su Hongquan. "Course instructors and volunteers were very friendly and helped us with everything. Even though these 20 days have passed quickly, I'll always remember my visit to Russia."

International summer schools help Far Eastern Federal University increase the number of recruited international students, when the prospective students can study the language and learn about the Russian culture, when they can attend the lectures of the leading scholars, and become more familiar with the University and the country. In 2017-2018, the Far Eastern Federal University has enrolled students from 67 countries, and many of them came to the University after participating in one of these summer schools.
