Dec 7, 2016 - FEFU News

The defenses of student projects within the new academic discipline of the Basics of Project Activities (BPA) have started in Far Eastern Federal University on December 6th. More than 800 freshmen of the School of Economics and Management will present faculty with the implementation of their ideas and will demonstrate their progress in mastering the subject matter, which was launched in FEFU in September 2016 under the new Education 2.0 model of teaching.

Among the first successfully defended projects was The Sea Inside photo exhibition by Elena Prokopovskaya and Alina Gorlacheva, female students pursuing the Management major. The project authors said they wanted to create more comfortable environment in the educational building; to do this they selected photos of their friends with the images of seascapes and Vladivostok and made an original installation out of them.

According to George Gofbauer, the leading moderator of the BPA course, this exhibition is the brilliant, but far from being the only example of the successful project activities by students. Freshmen prepared to defend a variety of ideas: social, artistic, charitable, the ones related to small businesses, and being implemented on the Internet. Defense sessions have only just started and will continue throughout December.

The Basics of Project Activities is one of the 12 core courses of the Core Education academic module, which is being implemented in FEFU since the beginning of the 2016/2017 academic year. Students of the School of Economics and Management were the first who started exploring this discipline, and it will cover other Schools from the second semester.

The new Education 2.0 model of education has been developed under the FEFU Competitiveness Enhancement Program (5top100 Project) and it has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. The unique to the national education project incorporates the best international practices and standardizes the training system with the experience of the world's leading universities.
