On February 8, the Day of Russian Science, leading researches from the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) were awarded for innovative development and research in the field of nanoelectronics, life sciences, the oceans, pedagogy, archeology and others. More than 40 university employees received commendations and memorable gifts on behalf of FEFU President Boris Korobets.

The ceremony opened presenting certificates of honor from Sergei Dubovitsky, Minister of Vocational Education and Employment of the Primorsky Region. For their contribution to the development of the region, the awards were given to Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies Sergey Pishun, Professor of the Department of Theoretical Physics and Intellectual Technologies Leonid Afremov, Deputy Director for Development of the Institute of High Technologies and Advanced Materials Evgeny Papynov, Professor of the Department of Mathematics Alexander Abramov, Professor of the Department of Computer Integrated Production Systems Konstantin Zmeu, Professor of the Department of Arts and Design Galina Alekseeva, Professor of the Department of Biodiversity and Marine Bioresources Vyacheslav Ivankov.

During the solemn ceremony for a conscientious and professional approach to project management within the framework of the Priority 2030 program, Vice President for Development Elena Kharisova presented awards to six researchers. Projects of Vladimir Silantiev and Maxim Zhidkov are dedicated to the search for new cancer drugs. Acknowledgments were also awarded to Ilya Baranchugov, developer of a 3D printer for industrial printing, creator of solutions for the "smart" campus Evgeny Ledkov, and Vladislav Farniev, the youngest head of a scientific project dedicated to genomic and cellular technologies. An outstanding neurosurgeon and scientist Artur Biktimirov was also awarded. His project is dedicated to the introduction of digital technologies in medicine. He senses prostheses, conducts rehabilitation in VR, creates solutions for a smart clinic, and digitizes illnesses.

Vice Presifent for International Relations Evgeny Vlasov presented certificates of honor in the nomination "World-Class Science" to eight teams for the best scientific publications in leading international journals such as Nature Scientific Reports, Science Advances, Postdigital Science and Education, Nature Nanotechnologies, Small, Nano Letters and others. Scientists during 2022 did research in the field of life sciences, archeology, the oceans, nanotechnology and others.

In the nomination "Science is power!" Olga Gich, Associate Professor of the Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication, Daria Pashkovskaya, Senior Specialist of the Press Service, Nikolay Shestakov, Professor of the Department of Monitoring and Exploration of Georesources, and Nikita Mazhuga, Chairman of the Scientific Student Society, were awarded for the popularization of science. The FEFU President's gratitude to the young popularizers was presented by the Vice President for Youth Policy Alexander Kaidanovich.
Also, for the opening and development of youth laboratories, Vice President for Research Alexander Samardak solemnly awarded the Head of the Laboratory of Recombinant DNA Technologies Alexander Seytkalieva, the Head of the Laboratory of Functional, Therapeutic and Sports Nutrition Natalia Li, the Head of the Laboratory for Optimizing Biologically Active Substances of Natural Origin Maxim Zhidkov, the Head of the Microcombustion Laboratory Sergey Mokrin.

Far Eastern Federal University actively conducts scientific research both on the basis of its own laboratories and in cooperation with the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, major universities and international research centers. Articles are regularly published in journals indexed in international scientific ratings.
