Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and Kaspersky Lab, the largest Russian developer of information security systems, have signed an agreement on strategic partnership in education. In the future, there will be the Kaspersky Lab's research and education center for information security in FEFU.
The parties agreed to jointly develop and implement academic and research programs aimed at the development of general and professional education in cybersecurity. The main goal of the partnership is the creation of a favorable academic environment for the formation and development of youth competence in cybersecurity and training of personnel for the high-tech industry.
“The development strategies of the university and Kaspersky Lab are now moving in one direction, and hopefully we will quickly come to success on key topics,” said Dmitry Zemtsov, FEFU Vice President for Development. “Kaspersky Lab is an international company with a large-scale vision, focused on the global market. We are going to improve the FEFU academic programs together, and we are also ready to cooperate with the offices of Kaspersky Lab. The Vladivostok time zone allows us to make an inextricable chain for 24-hour development—the dream of IT professionals.”
The parties will draw attention to cybersecurity, support talented young people who want to master technologies and software products. They will create an academic methodological basis integrated into the academic, research, and educational environment.
“We have accumulated a huge amount of knowledge, expertise, successful cases, projects, and we are ready to share them for the development of education in the field of cybersecurity. FEFU will act as a partner, which will transform our knowledge into a student-friendly format and integrate it into the academic environment. We also plan joint research activities and will be happy to collaborate with your researchers,” said Dmitry Postelnik, head of Kaspersky Lab's academic programs. “Besides, we have offices around the world, and we want to link FEFU with universities on common development topics, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The parties will also support the development of entrepreneurial skills and startups of the FEFU students and faculty. Dmitry Postelnik stressed that Kaspersky Lab is interested in finding original ideas and helping to translate them into software products and services interesting for the market.
The plans are to establish Kaspersky Lab research and education center for information security in FEFU, which will provide educational, information, and consulting services both inside the university and externally to customers and clients.
