Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) entered into a cooperation agreement. FEFU Interim President Nikita Anisimov and MGIMO Rector Academician Anatoly Torkunov formalized reached earlier agreements on cooperation in the field of improving the quality of education and research, joint training, and professional development. Victoria Panova, Director of the FEFU Oriental Institute–School of Regional and International Studies (OI–SRIS), attended the signing ceremony.

Within the framework of cooperation with MGIMO, the FEFU Oriental Institute–School of Regional and International Studies is planning to implement joint academic programs, exchanges of students, refresher courses for the faculty, to open the network Master's Degree Program for the undergraduate students of both universities, to arrange for research, as well as international conferences and seminars. It is also planned to organize cross-training modules on the bases FEFU and MGIMO, to expand cooperation in expert, consulting and publishing activities.

“This agreement is very important for us,” said Victoria Panova, Director of OI–SRIS. “FEFU has extensive experience in the field of Oriental Studies. It is extremely important to not only develop relationships and get new experience, but also share our knowledge with colleagues. Ultimately, this will allow us to improve educational programs in the field of international relations, will promote internal academic mobility and produce really highly qualified specialists required both at the national and international levels.”

We would like to remind that one of the FEFU priority research and educational areas is the integration of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region (AsPac). The main mission of the University as part of the Federal agenda is to create the Russian research and education outpost in the Asia-Pacific region and the point of geopolitical influence. One of the unique advantages of FEFU should become multicultural environment, the environment of the open international university.
