FEFU and System Operator of the Unified Energy System map out joint initiatives for 2025-2027

In order to develop cooperation, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and OJSC “System Operator of the United Energy System” (OJSC SO UES) signed an additional agreement and approved a roadmap. The documents provide for cooperation in training, professional development and retraining of personnel, as well as educational and methodological activities aimed at improving educational programs and providing innovative support for the educational process at the university. The documents were signed by FEFU President Boris Korobets and Chairman of the Board of SO UPS JSC Fedor Opadchiy.

The plan of events is primarily aimed at students of the Polytechnic Institute and their career guidance. The partners will jointly hold open days, career days, round tables, and thematic excursions. A program has also been developed provided for engineering faculty. The System Operator will share expertise with them through seminars, technical training sessions, and dispatch training drills.

“For decades, FEFU has been training specialists for the energy sector, including for the dispatch services of the Far East. Now our graduates work in various divisions of the System Operator, the company helps students gain practical knowledge in planning and managing electricity. The cooperation plan will help to adapt our educational programs to keep pace with progress in the field of operational dispatch control,” said Boris Korobets, FEFU President.

The ongoing plan includes holding lectures for bachelor’s and master’s on the activities of the System Operator and the IT solutions it employs classes on dispatching and management of electric power modes, consultations for student teams in preparation for competitions, scientific and technical conferences, as well as holding the All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Energy of the Far East” on an ongoing basis. FEFU students will be able to undergo practical training and internships in the company, learn about current vacancies. In addition, the implementation of company-sponsored education is envisaged.

“The development of the Far East energy sector is one of the priority tasks of the national economy, and the provision of qualified personnel is a necessary condition for achieving this goal. Since 2024, the System Operator has expanded its presence in the region, taking over the operational dispatch management of technologically isolated territorial energy systems of the Far East. It is extremely important for us to be able to replenish the personnel reserve with specialists whose knowledge and competencies match the scale and uniqueness of the tasks implemented by the company. Far Eastern Federal University is a recognized forge of professional personnel for the energy sector, and our cooperation with the university will help to make the training of specialists more practice-oriented and effective,” shared Fedor Opadchiy, Chairman of the Board of SO UPS JSC.

The partner concludes agreements with specialized higher education institutions, including FEFU, within the framework of the updated interaction strategy aimed at deepening the practical focus of the educational process for the training of highly qualified specialists in accordance with the specifics of the System Operator’s activities.
