The Competition named “Ocean of Knowledge” was held at the Representative Office of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Vietnam on May 25. Intellectual competitions were held on the basis of Vietnam National University and gathered about 50 high school students from schools in the capital and nearby provinces: Ian Bai, Bac Ninh and Nam Ding.
The participants of the Competition were greeted by Vasiliy Ivanov, the FEFU Vice-President for Academic and Educational Affairs, the Dean of the Faculty of the Russian Language at the Institute of Foreign Languages of VNU Dinh Thi Thu Huyen. Representatives of the FEFU Office Vice-President for International Relations told the participants about the opportunities for admission and the conditions of study at a leading Far Eastern university.
“Vietnam has a traditionally strong school for teaching mathematical sciences, and there is a growing demand for specialists in the field of IT, high technology and engineering. Therefore, the FEFU Competition has caused such interest among local high school students. “Ocean of Knowledge” is a great opportunity to support gifted schoolchildren, and also to tell them about the possibilities of applying their knowledge at the university, which can be implemented by enrolling in FEFU educational programs and conducting research”, said Lưu Thị Nam Hà Director of the FEFU Representative Office in Vietnam.
The competition results will be announced on June 10. They will be published on the FEFU official website. Each participant will receive an electronic certificate indicating the results of the test. It can be presented during the entrance examinations to FEFU. Interestingly, the "Ocean of Knowledge" is just one of the joint projects of the two universities planned for this year. For example, a competition on the basis of VNU for Vietnamese students has already been launched, the winners of which will receive the right to free participation in the FEFU International Summer School.
FEFU Representative Office in Vietnam was opened in December 2018. It is intended to become the navigator of the educational partnership of the two countries and stimulate the development of joint international scientific projects and the attraction of talented young people to the Far East of Russia.
The total number of FEFU’s international partners today is 246 educational institutions, with which 374 cooperation agreements have been signed. Half of them are located in the Asia-Pacific region and represent 18 countries.
