Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) takes the 493-rd position of the updated QS World University Ranking (QS WUR) 2021, rising by 47 positions compared to 2019. The largest university in the East of Russia participating in the 5-100 project has shown the best result in the prestigious international ranking in the entire history of participation in it since 2013, having risen by more than 200 positions.

The updated QS WUR rating was presented by Quacquarelli Symonds on June 10, 2020. The study was prepared on the basis of data for the 2019-2020 academic year and covers the top 1000 universities in the world, which were evaluated by a combination of indicators: the share of foreign students and staff, the ratio of students and academic staff, the citation index of scientific publications, reputation in the academic community and among employers.

Far Eastern Federal University has improved almost all of its indicators, which was the result of the gradual development of the university as a key scientific, educational, and technological center in the Russia's Far East.

“The result of FEFU in the QS ranking is primarily the achievement of the entire university staff, and in general the victory of the Far East, who were able to prove that the Russian Far East is able to compete confidently in the educational and scientific field with leading Russian and foreign intellectual centers”, said Nikita Anisimov, President of FEFU. “We are receiving the best graduates from all over the Far East, who in a few years of study become highly qualified engineers, economists, lawyers, orientalists, specialists in the field of data economy and other fields. Their huge potential, their readiness to be included in new projects, and the demand among employers allow us to count on further strengthening the position of the university as the largest scientific and educational center.”

QS analysts note that over the past year, Far Eastern Federal University has significantly strengthened its reputation among employers who actively support the university in achieving the common goals of breakthrough scientific and technological development. FEFU is involved in the development of personnel strategies for enterprises that come or already work in the macro-region, opens joint educational programs and modules in the interests of industry partners. Among such companies are SIBUR-Holding, Colmar, Rosneft and a number of others interested in training highly qualified specialists and having a stable request for their increase.

FEFU also improved performance on other QS WUR rating indicators due to the improvement of the quality of educational products and the launch of new educational programs with foreign partners. At the same time, research by university scientists is becoming more and more in demand in the international academic arena due to more publications in prestigious international journals and citation.

QS WUR is the most popular and most cited university information source in the world. The leading ranking website www.TopUniversities.com received over 149 million views in 2019.
