The Asia-Pacific School of Online Education was held at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The educational program gathered more than 170 representatives of higher and secondary educational institutions of the Far Eastern Federal District.

The school participants worked on several tracks, studied the advantages of various educational online learning platforms, e-education quality assessment systems and learned the methods of distance learning courses develop. The classes were conducted by experts from the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of Russia, the Higher School of Economics, the Ural and Baltic Federal Universities, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The training for online courses creation was conducted by “Lectorium”, one of the largest media libraries in Russia. Following the training results, the participants developed and presented the projects of their own courses. The authors of the three best received certificates for filming lectures in the video studio of the FEFU Center of Online Education Programs Development. The new courses will be recorded by the professors of the Institute of Oriental Studies - School of Regional and International Studies Ekaterina Yurchenko (Chinese Language) and Julia Hukalenko (Spanish Language), and the professor of the School of Engineering Irina Pilipko-Osipovich (Architecture).

“Online courses are becoming an integral part of the educational process in many Russian and foreign universities,” said Anna Teshetskaya, FEFU Vice-President for Academic and Educational Affairs. - This year, more than 12,000 FEFU students take online courses as part of the curriculum. For the university it is a revision of all basic processes, ranging from the student administration services to classrooms rearrangement, redesign of teaching methods and the formation of digital environment approaches. The participants were engaged in developing exact solutions in all these aspects.”

The Far Eastern Center for Online Education has been operating at FEFU since 2017. It was established as part of the priority project named “Modern Digital Educational Environment in the Russian Federation”. In the 2018-2019 academic year, more than 12,000 university students will take 92 online courses from leading Russia’s universities. Moscow State University, Higher School of Economics, ITMO University, Ural Federal University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and others opened the access to various online courses. FEFU professors also started recording a series of their own online courses.
