More than 50,000 people attended conferences, forums, and summits in Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in 2016. Today, the FEFU campus serves as the main congress and exhibition venue in the Far East, hosting the most important events, aimed at the integration of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region.

During the year, 232 events were held in FEFU (181 in 2015), including 77 international ones. The most ambitious and iconic one among them became the Second Eastern Economic Forum chaired by the Russian President Vladimir Putin, with the participation of the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and the President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-Hye. The forum brought together 2,500 delegates from 29 countries, the heads of more than 250 companies, and over 1,100 representatives of the Russian and international media. The official program of the EEF included the 5th APEC Conference on Higher Education Cooperation and Russia–ASEAN University Forum.

Also, for the first time in Russia, FEFU hosted the 14th Asian Network for Quality (ANQ) Congress. The Vice President's assessment of the all-Russian quality Organization, ANQ Chairman Yuri Gusakov, through campus FEFU world-class infrastructure managed to hold one of the largest congresses over the past 10 years. It was attended by more than 330 delegates from 11 countries, 120 reports were presented, and 12 prestigious awards in the field of quality were granted there.

The Pacific Tourism Forum and the Third Far Eastern Media Summit stand out among sectoral meetings. On the PITE tourism exhibition representatives of about 200 companies of the Far East regions and the Asia-Pacific countries presented their travel offers. The 2016 Third Far Eastern Media Summit on the Russian Island campus gathered about 2,000 participants from all over Russia and abroad. A separate section of the summit was devoted to the 55th anniversary of journalistic education in the Russian Far East.

The current year is expected to be equally intensive in FEFU. The preparations for the Third Eastern Economic Forum, which will take place on September 5-7, are already underway. According to the Decree of the President of Russia, 2017 has been declared as the year of ecology, so the International Conference on Climate Change in the Asian Pacific Region will be the major scientific event. In early October it will bring to FEFU experts in the field of ecology, natural and related sciences from around the world.

Another major event will be the First International Conference METANANO 2017. The conference will take place from 18 to 22 September with the participation of the Nobel Prize winner for Physics Zhores Alfyorov, major scholars from Russia, the United States, Australia, Germany, Spain, and other countries. In July,  for the first time in Russia, FEFU will hold the APRU (Association of Pacific Rim Universities) Undergraduate Summer School.
