The representative office of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) was opened at Vietnam National University (VNU) on December 10. The new foreign division of FEFU has become the first and the only one office of a Russia’s university in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam so far.

FEFU President Nikita Anisimov, VNU President Nguyen Kim Son and Russia’s Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov took part in the ceremony. The FEFU Representative University in Hanoi will take the navigator functions of the educational partnership between Russia and Vietnam, will serve as a single FEFU “window” for working with Vietnam’s universities, authorities and business, attracting students, developing research projects and transferring technologies.

“Vietnam National University is the leading university in Vietnam and one of the oldest partners of FEFU, so we are interested in expanding cooperation,” said Nikita Anisimov. - Joint programs and research in the field of Vietnamese language and culture are traditional for our universities. Representative office establishment opens up new opportunities for interaction in the field of high technologies and business, including the creation of Russia-Vietnam projects at the platform of Russky Technopark.”

A high-tech transfer center will be created at the FEFU representative office, and a training program will be opened for innovative companies. Universities plan to attract Russia’s and Vietnam’s business to organize student internships and implement high-tech projects. The Russian Language Training Center will also start working at the office, it will organize summer schools, publish joint teaching aids and research articles on teaching Russian as a foreign language.

The students of Far Eastern Federal University (previously Far Eastern State University) have been studying Vietnam since 1979, which allowed forming one of the strongest schools of Vietnamese studies in Russia. Now more than 50 students are trained at the Vietnamese department of FEFU, who annually have their internships at the Institute of Social and Human Sciences of VNU. Moreover, more than 50 Vietnamese students study at FEFU annually.
