The representative office of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) was solemnly opened in Beijing (China) today, April 1. FEFU President Nikita Anisimov, FEFU Vice-President for International Relations Victoria Panova took part in the ceremony. Representatives from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) were present on behalf of CASS, on the basis of which the representative office, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and the China Center for International Cultural Exchanges were located.

“The Far Eastern Federal University has a long-term and extremely rich history of cooperation with educational and scientific institutions in China”, said Nikita Anisimov. - I would like to sincerely thank the management of CASS, our partners and all those who participated in the implementation of this project. We look forward to the start of the representation, through which our professors and researchers can implement new forms of cooperation, which will increase the intensity and increase the quality of scientific and educational exchanges. ”

The Beijing Office of FEFU is intended to promote the development of cooperation between organizations in the field of conducting scientific research on Russian-Chinese relations in politics, economics, and socio-humanitarian interaction. In addition, it should provide operational and mutually beneficial work with universities in China, to promote the attraction of new foreign students.

Already on the opening day, the first event took place at the FEFU Representative Pffice - a round table on the topic “Regional cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation: new plans and prospects”. At the conference, the heads of the largest national and international organizations of China, including the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese People’s Friendship Society with the Foreign Countries, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the All-China Association for Research of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Academy of International Affairs and other significant institutions for both countries.

“Among the FEFU partners in China are about 50 public and private educational institutions, scientific institutions, government organizations and foundations. Research and exchange programs are successfully implemented, joint conferences and summer schools are held. Currently, more than 1,000 Chinese students are studying with us, and every year their number is steadily increasing, which, I think, is a reflection of the actively developing ties between our countries and the growing interest in Russia, its culture, language and history”, noted Nikita Anisimov.

The agreement on the opening of the FEFU representative office in the PRC was concluded within the framework of the IV Eastern Economic Forum. The document was signed by FEFU Vice-President for International Relations Victoria Panova and Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Cai Fan in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is the leading academic organization and integrated research center of the PRC in the field of philosophy, political and social sciences. Currently, it consists of 31 research institutes and 45 research centers that carry out research activities covering almost 300 disciplines. CASS has 4,200 employees, of whom more than 3,200 are professional researchers and scientists.
