An agreement on cooperation between Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the Association “Council of Municipalities of Primorsky Region” was concluded on the campus on Russky Island on April 19. The document was signed by the FEFU President Nikita Anisimov and the chairman of the association’s board, Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Vladimir Novikov.

“FEFU and the Council of municipalities of the Primorsky Territory have very fruitful relations. Vladimir Mikhailovich is our long-time friend with whom we conduct active and mutually beneficial cooperation. The signed agreement can bring the partnership with the Council to a qualitatively new level”, said FEFU President Nikita Anisimov.

The subject of the agreement was the interaction in the field of organization and improvement of the activities of local self-government in the Primorsky Region, activization of the teaching staff and the student community in solving the issues of the regional social and economic development through participation in federal and regional programs.

In order to implement the agreement, it is also planned to coordinate cooperation in the field of independent scientific examination of draft regulatory acts, cooperation in improving legislation regulating the activities of local governments, as well as developing proposals for amendments to the legislative framework of the country and region.

In addition, joint participation in conferences, round tables, seminars and meetings, various training events related to various aspects of local self-government, in particular the extension of powers of state bodies, principles of municipal law, are expected to be implemented.

An agreement on cooperation between the Council of Municipal Formations and FEFU was concluded during a round table meeting “Administrative and territorial structure of the Primorsky Territory: experience and prospects”, timed to the Day of Local Self-Government. Representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the region, heads and deputies of municipalities, researchers and students of FEFU gathered on the campus on Russky Island.
