Student Model of Shanghai Cooperation Organization is to be conducted at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) on November 17. Participants will try themselves at a role-playing game, during which they will be able to try on the role of heads of state, government, or ministries and departments, as well as discuss priority agendas for organizing within the framework of simulating the work of the SCO bodies. According to the organizers of the event, the participants will be offered the choice of a country from among the organization's member states, which include India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Each committee includes one representative from a country.

It is planned to hold parallel meetings in two committees:

• Meeting of Ministers of Internal Affairs and Public Security;

• Meeting of Ministers responsible for Foreign Economic and Foreign Trade activities.

Participants will discuss a new level in countering international terrorism and ensuring economic resilience in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The agenda was formed in accordance with Russia's priorities in the SCO. In addition to simulating the work of the committees, it is planned to hold the opening and closing ceremonies in the form of a brief simulation of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States. Participants will also attend an open online lecture on the organization to build an understanding of the shared values and principles of the SCO, as well as its significance for Russia.

The winners will have a chance to compete for participation in the All-Russia Student Model of the SCO, which will be held in 2021 at the Belgorod State National Research University. Following the results of the federal stage, the best participants will visit the SCO headquarters in Beijing. In addition, students will have the opportunity to publish an article in the FEFU scientific journal.

The student model of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be supported by the Model UN in the Far East at the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The event is timed to coincide with the year of Russia's Presidency in the SCO.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a permanent intergovernmental international organization, the establishment of which was announced on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai (PRC). Currently, the SCO member states are eight countries: the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to the SCO Charter, the goals of the alliance are to ensure stability and security in the region, the fight against terrorism and extremism, the development of economic cooperation, energy partnership, scientific and cultural interaction. Priority areas are the development of transport infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, oil and gas, agriculture, use of water resources, and others.

Far Eastern Federal University is becoming more and more visible on a global scale as an actor in solving "big challenges", is actively involved in global research networks and thematic expert communities of the Asia-Pacific region. FEFU acts as a center for world-class analytics and expertise, accumulating a resource of specialists in various aspects of the development of the Russian Far East and the APR.
