ARCH'Pacific — International Forum of Architects and Designers — was held in FEFU for the second consecutive year. Its program comprised the lectures and workshops by foreign architects, the youth conference and exhibition competition of the projects by FEFU students, as well as by those from universities of Russia, Japan, China, Germany, and other countries. The forum is a great opportunity for FEFU students to see the latest ideas and trends in the world of architecture.
The works of about 500 participants were presented at the exhibition of architectural and design works in FEFU. These were both the large-scale projects that resolve the city-wide issues and the projects of small architectural forms, as well as some design works: posters and compositions. Most of the work were the term and graduation projects by the students of the FEFU School of Engineering. There one could see the works by the students of the University of Hokkaido, Kanto Gakuin University (Yokohama, Japan), Harbin Institute of Technology (China), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), Russian universities from Samara, Tomsk, and Khabarovsk.
The works of Japanese students stood out among the international projects. The Fragments of Memory project was created by Fusako Kato, the student of Japanese architect Kazuaki Seki. She proposed to build a floating theater on an artificial lake in memory of the villages that had been flooded by the waters of the lake as a result of dam construction. As explained by the student, the meaning of this project is "the connection of memory and space through stage productions."
As it was mentioned by one of the organizers of the Forum, the Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the FEFU School of Engineering, PhD in Architecture, Professor, Honored Architect of Russia, Valery Moor, the FEFU student projects were no less interesting than the foreign ones, they offered new architectural solutions and ideas. Attention was drawn to the project of the Red Courtyard residential complex, which was developed by Nikolai Yugai, Andrei Khan and Artyom Stepanov. Interesting ideas for the long-term development of the Far East region and Vladivostok were implemented in the projects "Weather Home Research and Demonstration Complex on Russky Island" by Yulia Richert and "Rural Tourism Center at the De Vries Peninsula in Vladivostok City" by Anastasia Kravchenko. The best projects will be determined by the jury and receive awards on April 29th.

The guests of the Forum, already established professionals, had experiences to share with the younger generation. These were Francesco Messina and Gaitan Skarchella, Italian architects, representing the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of the Province of Messina (Italy), Curl Yu, Chief Architect of iArc Architecture Inc. (Seoul, Republic of Korea), Kazuaki Seki, Professor of the College of Architecture and Environment Design at Kanto Gakuin University (Japan), and Dmitry Narinsky, Professor of the Moscow Branch of the International Academy of Architecture, Chair of the Urban Planning Council of the Union of Architects of Russia. Their lectures and presentations became a part of the conference.
The conference continued with the students' presentations, such as Creating a Humane Living Environment under the Principles of Regenerative Design, Observation Deck as a City Social Environment, Computational Approach to the Study of Urban Space, etc.: about 15 reports in all by the post-graduate students, undergraduates and students.
International cooperation in education and integration in the educational and cultural space of the Asia-Pacific region is one of the FEFU priorities within the framework of its participation in the 5top100 National Project. ARCH'Pacific-2016 was organized by the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the FEFU School of Engineering, Primorsky Krai Administration, the Union of Architects of Russia, the Far Eastern Regional Branch of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, the Central Research Institute of Engineering Design Branch, the Association of Technical Universities of Russia and China, and the Korean Association of Architecture Schools Teachers .
