Students of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) won the Scholarship Competition of British Petroleum company (BP), one of the world's largest oil and gas companies. The scholarship was awarded to Nikolai Kamaev, Alexey Smolyakov, Grigory Titov, Kirill Runtov, Nikita Alan-Reis (School of Engineering), Vlada Glavinskaya, Vladislav Zhigulsky (School of Natural Sciences) and Alena Savchenko (School of Economics and Management). Certificates were awarded by Vladimir Drebentsov, Vice-President for External Relations of the Russian Division of BP Russia Group of Companies.

BP scholarships were obtained by undergraduates whose future profession is related to the extraction and processing of oil and gas, the construction of pipelines and ice-resistant structures, petrochemistry, geochemistry, and geophysics. Candidates have passed a rigorous selection, they have high academic performance and they are actively involved in the public and academic life of the university. The fellowship is worth 15 000 rubles a month.

“Over the years of cooperation, we have awarded scholarships to 2,000 Russian students, including more than 100 FEFU students. Moreover, we provide grants to research teams, help universities to invite professors. I hope our contribution will help you continue your education and achieve new successes”, Vladimir Drebentsov addressed the students.

The meeting was continued by a competition of research projects for BP grants, which the company annually awards to FEFU young scientists. There was also an interview with Master’s Degree students and postgraduate students to receive BP scholarships. The scholarship worth for Master’s Degree students is 20,000 rubles a month, for postgraduate students is 35,000 rubles a month.

Far Eastern Federal University has been cooperating with BP since 2012. FEFU also has scholarship programs provided by the major Russian and foreign companies including Rosneft, Transneft, Sberbank, Alfa Bank, Shimadzu, Mitsubishi, and others. Generally, FEFU students can receive up to 30 additional scholarships for special achievements in science, art, sports and social life.
