Students of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) took the entire awarding podium at the tenth anniversary regional Information Security Competition “Russkiy Defense Game”. The tournament was attended by representatives of leading universities from all over the Far East. For the first time, schoolchildren who were trained at FEFU Script Kiddie courses also tried to participte.

Competitions were held in the classic CTF (capture the flag) task-based style. Contestants completed assignments of varying degrees of difficulty from the main areas of cybersecurity: looking for hidden data, checking the vulnerability of web servers, solving cryptography problems, working with encryption algorithms, looking for traces of an intrusion.

“Information security is now one of the most important priorities of society. Therefore, FEFU pays a lot of attention to training specialists and popularizing this area among young people. Annual e-sports games are one of the best ways not only to draw attention to the industry, but also to form a community of professionals and improve the overall quality of training. This year we have expanded the format of the event, involving also high school students”, said Nikolay Zarivnoy, FEFU Vice-President for Digital Transformation

“FEFU strives to improve the level of training of specialists in the field of information security every year. We deepen students not only theoretical knowledge, but also consolidate them on practical assignments. Another important task is to involve talented youth in the profession with the support of government authorities and specialized businesses. The past competitions clearly demonstrate that we are on the right track”, commented Alexey Pavlychev, Director of FEFU Information Security Center.

Far Eastern Federal University is the center of IT education in the Far East. The training of specialists is carried out according to individual trajectories according to the most modern educational programs, so that graduates become leaders in the development of the IT community.

In 2021, FEFU is ready to accept applicants in the areas of Bachelor's Degree - "Information Security", Specialist's Degree - "Computer Security", Master's Degree - "Cybersecurity" and "Information Security in the Credit and Financial Sphere".
