Students of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) won first and third prizes at the International Information Security Competition Russky Defense Game, which took place at FEFU on March 11. Participants from leading universities in the Far East and the BRICS educational program identified the strongest in breaking and protecting information systems and sites, data recovery, computer forensics, and cryptanalysis. The tournament was organized by the FEFU Information Security Center with the support of the Government of the Primorsky Region.

“We pay great attention to the development of digital technologies and the training of qualified personnel in the field of information security. Such competitions are a great opportunity to demonstrate your skills in practice. I hope this event will become regular. This is an excellent platform for the point of attraction of cybersecurity specialists from all over Russia”, said Nikolai Zarivnoy, FEFU Vice-President for Economics and Finance.

“The digital economy is one of the priority areas for the development of our country at the present stage, and information security is an important part of it. Therefore, specialists in this field are so necessary and in demand, both for government agencies and for commercial companies. And every year this significance will only grow”, said Tatyana Potapova, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Government of the Primorsky Region.

“FEFU focuses on the development of information security specialists, regularly holds cybersecurity competitions in which teams from all over the Far East and Russia take part. Thanks to everyone who came to the Russky Defense Game and showed himself”, said Aleksey Pavlychev, Director of FEFU Information Security Center.

Far Eastern Federal University is the center of IT education in the Far East. The School of Natural Sciences offers undergraduate programs in the areas of “Information Security” and the specialty “Computer Security”. FEFU School of Data Economy has a Master's program in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, where students study Cybersecurity.
