President of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Nikita Anisimov made a proposal to intensify cooperation between Russia and the Republic of India in the field of education, science and high technologies at a roundtable meeting at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in New Delhi on June 19. The development of bilateral relations was discussed with the participation of Yury Trutnev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District
According to Nikita Anisimov, Far Eastern Federal University is ready to become one of the centers of scientific, educational and technological cooperation between Russia and India. Today there are all prerequisites for this, including many years of interaction experience, interest of Indian students and scholars in learning and implementing joint projects in FEFU. Along with medicine, which has a heightened scientific interest in the Indian side, the FEFU President considers promising for cooperation in the field of high technologies, the data economy, engineering, international relations.
Nikita Anisimov also announced the interest in expanding exchange programs for Indian students, whom FEFU can take within the framework of summer schools, and for a longer period. At the same time, the Far Eastern Federal University is working on the issue of reviving the Department of Indology, which will significantly increase the level of training in India and attract more Russian students to this direction. The President does not exclude the possibility of opening a FEFU Representative Office in one of Indian universities, following the example of those that have appeared at Far Eastern Federal University in Japan, China and Vietnam over the past few years.
The FEFU President is in India as member of the delegation of Yury Trutnev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District. The main objectives of the working trip are the presentation of the investment opportunities of the Far East and the elaboration of possible bilateral initiatives in preparation for the visit of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Vladivostok in September 2019.
