Victoria Panova, Vice-President for International Relations of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), made a presentation at the seminar "Ten years of BRICS (a group of five countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa): what to expect in the future?" The event was held at the Center for the Study and Research of the BRICS Member Countries at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

At the seminar, experts reviewed what five countries achieved in all key areas of cooperation and assessed the prospects for unification, as well as the possibilities of this group in terms of creating a new sustainable fair world order.

“The BRICS mechanism is stable and systematic, and has already proved its viability and non-susceptibility to momentary fluctuations in the system of international relations,” said FEFU Vice-President for International Relations, Scientific Director of the Expert Council for the Preparation and Securing of the Presidency of the Russian Federation in the BRICS Union Victoria Panova.

The seminar was attended by about 50 young researchers from Brazil involved in the study of the policies of the BRICS countries. Experts conducted a systematic analysis of the organization's work, including its most significant results and the evolution of the priorities of the association. The participants in the discussion evaluated the BRICS activities in responding to changes in the system of international relations and outlined the problems that the member countries of the association face in maintaining the existing system of world law and order.

At the seminar, experts emphasized that the transformations during the Fourth Industrial Revolution affected BRICS, but the establishment of the organization also influenced these global processes. Participants in the discussion concluded that the integration of production and consumption systems of the five countries contributed to changes in the existing system of division of labor and the circulation of goods and services between developing and developed countries. Approximately 1.5 billion workers entering the world labor market had a significant impact on the future geo-economy of labor.

It should be noted that FEFU, in honor of the Russian chairmanship of BRICS in 2020, launches a Semester Internship Programme designed to provide an environment in which students from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa can study together as part of educational programs that are popular and relevant for BRICS. The program will facilitate academic and cultural exchange aimed at intensifying social and humanitarian cooperation, strengthening dialogue and mutual understanding in the BRICS member states.
