The National Technological Initiative (NTI) Center for Neurotechnology and Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Technologies is being created at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The university must address a no mean task: to create a platform for product development in the field of virtual and augmented reality for the Neuronet market.

According to the minutes of the Tender Committee meeting, FEFU won a tender to obtain grants for state support for the National Technological Initiative centers. The future NTI center at FEFU is beginning to implement breakthrough research programs on Neuronet, VR and AR technology and to train professionals in these fields. Wide connections of the university will allow involving representatives of high-tech business for the joint development of new products and services, their introduction into production and output to global markets, including the Asia-Pacific countries.

A group of end-to-end neurotechnologies and augmented & virtual reality technologies is the basis for the formation of the Neuronet market. The main property of Neuronet is a fundamentally wider range of possibilities for human interaction with the virtual world. The Consortium, created on the basis of FEFU, concentrates its efforts on creating a platform that allows to significantly simplify the process of developing products for Neuronet. Such products will expand both the forms of human perception of the virtual world, and the ways of interaction with it.

The Consortium includes the leading Russian universities: FEFU, ITMO University, Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Psychology), Volga University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, and University of Innopolis; research centers: FEB RAS Institute of Automation and Control Processes, FEB RAS Institute of Marine Technology Problems, Foundation for New Forms of Education Development and Quantorium Network of Children's Technoparks; Seoul National University (Republic of Korea), as well as representatives of the largest technology companies: MTS, Mazda Sollers, DEUS, MOTIV, Vizerra, BiTronics Lab, CSN Group, GS Nanotech, LenVR Petersburg Virtual Reality Studio; professional associations: Cyber Russia, AVRA, Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and the RUSNANO Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs. Korea University has joined the Consortium recently.
