Q: What will happen to the School of Education and FEFU Branches?

A: All branches and the School of Education work the same way as a university in Vladivostok (Updated on 18.03)

 

Q: Will there be any restrictions on visits to residential buildings? Can I invite guests? And is it possible to visit another hostel?

A: All measures taken by the university are aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus. As university members, students must take an active part in this, minimizing the number of contacts, including inside hostels. Our lives and the lives of our relatives and friends depend on this. Each meeting of students together increases the likelihood of spreading the infection, so the university hopes for your assistance and awareness (Updated on 18.03)

 

Q: Will it be possible to enter the FEFU buildings?

A: Not all the buildings can be entered through the regular entrance. The entrances of some buildings are closed.


Open entrances:

Building A (upper entrance from the side of the road)

Building B (upper entrance from the side of the road)

Building S (from the sea)

Building G (entrance to the main block)

Building F (lower entrance next to the cafeteria)

Building M (main entrance)

Building L (main entrance)

 

Entrances to the Buildings C, E, D are closed. If you plan to enter these buildings, then you need to enter them through another building (Updated on 18.03)


Q: Will university commissions work in a regular way?

A: Yes, commissions will work, but not in distant format. (updated on 18.03)


Q: Can I do research work at FEFU laboratories?

A: Only by the decision of the School Director and only individually with the professor. Instructions on the procedure for such access will be provided later. (Updated on 18.03)

 

Q: Why do we need a vacation?

A: Despite the new format, we want the remain good quality of education. Professors need time to be better prepared for E-learning format. That is why FEFU introduces short-term vacations for students from March 18 to 21. It means that classes will not be held during this period.

 

Q: Will university services work? (Shuttle busses, cafeterias, coffee points, co-working zones, library)

A: Shuttles and university food outlets will continue to work, coworking zones and a library will stop to work for some period. Coffee points inside educational buildings may not work. University buses on the campus-city route will continue to work, but their schedule will be adjusted from March 23.

Q: What should I do if I am leaving home and there is a big-time difference with Vladivostok (+7 hours for example)

A: The university works according to Vladivostok time. When leaving, remember that it is your responsibility to attend classes. (Updated on 18.03)


Q: What should I do if I do not have the opportunity to learn using electronic digital devices? (No laptop, tablet, cell phone)

A: FEFU conducts surveys, which should show how many students are not able to study online. After collecting the data, additional information will be made and a decision will be made on such students. Please also fill in the survey questionnaire at the link:

Q: Most of my academic activities consist of laboratory and research classes, which cannot be carried out without special equipment. How will E-learning affect me? Will I have 8 classes a day after? Will I have to study longer? For example, I am studying General Medicine, it is almost impossible to conduct my classes outside the laboratory. What to do?

A: The decision on whether it is possible or impossible to conduct classes online is made by the School, follow the schedule (Updated on 18.03)

 

Q: Will the quality of education suffer?

A: No, the quality will remain the same. Professors are given time to prepare for online classes and the university provides all the necessary resources

 

Q: Will additional classes be added when regular academic process id back?

A: No, except for those that fell during the short-term vacation period from March 18 to 21.

 

Q: What will happen to my examination retakes?

A: All examination retakes from 18.03 are moved to a later date. In the near future, there will be more exact information. Follow the information on the FEFU website and the official group of FEFU in VK (Russia’s social network Vkontakte).


Q: What will happen to the classes in the Military Department?

A: Until March 18, they are scheduled. From March 19 to March 21, as in the whole university, there will be no classes at the military department. Starting March 23, classes at the military training center will be held remotely as well as throughout the university.


Q: What if a professor did not conduct an online class for a good reason? For example, if it is impossible to carry out without the necessary equipment, illness or lack of technical capabilities 

A: Such classes will be replenished after the resumption of full-time studies.

   

Q: How does the online system work? Will all my classes be held online?

A: All the classes will be conducted online, except for those classes that are impossible to conduct without specialized classrooms and equipment - these classes will be returned to the schedule after the resumption of full-time studies.

 

Q: Will semester / vacation dates be changed?

A: No, classes and vacation dates will not be changed.

 

Q: How much time prior will we be informed about the return to full-time studies?

A: Quarantine will last 3 weeks, if there are changes, then you will be informed at least a week in advance!

 

Q: What should I do if I have an internship?

A: If you undergo an internship at the university, you should switch to a distant mode. In all other cases, the internship depends on the decision of the company where you are practicing.

 

Q: Can we meet with our professors offline? For example, for research recommendations?

A: This can happen according to the decision of a professor.

 

Q: Can I ask for a refund if I bought a membership (subscription) to visit sports centers?

A: There are two possible options: the first - you will be renewed the subscription for the same period that was valid during the quarantine period; the second - a refund for a subscription or not attended workouts.

 

Q: Will we have access to the fitness center?

A: No, visits to fitness facilities will be banned from March 17

 

 

Professors and employees

 

Q: Is there a list of resources that we can use to conduct classes? What resource is better to use to conduct a seminar? And how to give a lecture. Can I just give assignments by mail?

A: Each professor can use those resources that are comfortable to work. For professors who do not have established practice and priorities in organizing classes online, the work will be organized in the Microsoft Teams service with the support of the university. 

FEFU within 24 hours will post information about the systems for e-learning, video and text instructions. In addition, there will be volunteers to advise and assist professors. (Updated on 18.03)


Q: When do employees switch to remote mode?

A: FEFU professors are switching to online mode using the electronic educational environment from March 23. In other categories, the employer himself / herself decides how to establish a remote mode of work for the employees also from March 23. (Updated on 18.03)

 

Q: Should everyone organize e-learning?

A: Yes, each professor should transfer their classes to the online format

 

Q: Should I come to work?

A: No, you shouldn’t come without an emergency.

 

Q: Can meetings of departments and planning meetings be held?

A: No, only online.

 

Q: Can I organize personal consultations or classes if my students ask for it?

A: Yes, but if absolutely necessary and with the permission of School Director

 

Q: What will happen to my examination retakes?

A: No, everything should go without loss of hours, except for classes that require special equipment
