The student life at the leading University in the region has started for 7,000 freshmen of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) with the great event. On September 15th, the representatives of all nine Schools gathered at the central building on campus to solemnly celebrate the new academic year and to enter into the most interesting and intense phase of their lives.

"Far Eastern Federal University is the heart of education in Eastern Russia, and we will do everything to make your student life interesting and comfortable. Here there are all possibilities to get an excellent education, do science, engage in creative activities, sports, do study placement, and bring benefits to your University. Welcome to FEFU!" addressed freshmen the FEFU Acting President Nikita Anisimov.

Viktor Gorchakov, the President of the FEFU Alumni Association, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Primorsky Krai, congratulated students with the start of a new life stage:

"Crucial for the country events occur and the key decisions are taken in Far Eastern Federal University, but it is for you to implement them. I hope that today's mood and state of mind you have now will persist for a long time, you will spend your university years with dignity, and you will successfully graduate from the University with the same joyful smiles.

Traditionally for the Freshman Day at Far Eastern Federal University a student 'leaven' was prepared—without it, they have not managed this university event for many years. Nikita Anisimov personally tasted the finished 'kvass' drink and invited to try it all the present, and the students received their first, albeit only sweet, A's together with kvass—cakes in the form 'A' grades. The Directors of all nine FEFU Schools also congratulated the students; they wished freshmen to be inquisitive and dedicated to their chosen profession.

The event continued with performances of the best dance and vocal groups of the FEFU Center of Creative and Performing Arts, tours across the campus organized by the Joint Student Council. Evening disco was the final bright point of the Freshman Day.

The first day of the new academic year began for the FEFU freshmen with the orientation sessions in the Schools. From 16th to 18th of September all new students will also participate in a big 'CAMPUS-QUEST' adaptation program and they will proceed directly to educational pursuits on September 19th.
