The Second International “Ice Mechanics” Workshop School was held in FEFU. 30 students, postgraduate students and young researchers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok, China, India, Republic of Korea and Norway came to the ice of the Novik Bay (Russky Island) where for several days have conducted field experiments with natural material and took samples for laboratory testing.

The leading teachers of the FEFU School of Engineering and the invited expert of Rosneft-Shelf-Arctic Ltd shared their knowledge and experience with young scientists.

The experiments have continued in the Novik Bay for several days, after which the project participants analyzed the received data. The two-week training program was completed on February 5th with the test on acquired knowledge, necessary for the implementation of projects for the development of the Arctic region.

The second Ice School is a part of the Arctic Project, which is implemented within the framework of Raising FEFU Competitiveness Program under 5-100 Project, a key outcome of which shall be the appearance in Russia by 2020 of the modern leading universities with an effective management structure and the international academic reputation, able to set trends in the development of the world’s higher education.
