The Far Eastern Federal University and the University of Pardubice, Czech Republic can become partners. An initiative to conduct joint anthropological research was advanced by an outstanding Czech anthropologist Peter Skalnik at the meeting with the Director of the FEFU School of Humanities Felix Azhimov, which was held during Professor Skalnik’s visit to FEFU. Renowned expert in the field of political anthropology also proposed that both universities organize student and faculty exchange to promote a two-way scientific research.

Speaking of the promising areas of cooperation Peter Skalnik pointed out that the Russian Far East has a wealth of anthropological material and is of a special interest as a place where European and Asian cultures cross over in the conditions of a dynamic development of the Asia Pacific region. This specific theme can become a basis of joint research projects, which are already envisioned by the representatives of both the Czech and the Russian universities. Felix Azhimov presented a distinguished anthropologist who has an interest in the Russian Far East with the first interdisciplinary textbook of the history of the region, which was compiled by the faculty of the School of Humanities in 2014.

During his visit to FEFU, Peter Skalnik also gave an open lecture. Both the students and the faculty of the School of Humanities and the Oriental Institute - the School of Regional and International Studies came together to listen to the lecture of the living icon of the European anthropology who authored multiple publications on the origins of the state and political culture of post-traditional societies. Renowned expert Dr.Skalnik spoke about the state of affairs in the world anthropology, about the unique features of scholarship of the origins and the development of the European societies, as well as about the impact of various historical processes on the challenges that the states of the continent have to address today.
