Russian President Vladimir Putin, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and Mongolia's President Khaltmaagiin Battulga handed the FEFU students a capsule with a message to future generations for the groundbreaking ceremony of martial arts palace construction. The first International Judo Center in Russia will be built on the FEFU campus to train high-level athletes and conduct large-scale tournaments.

The capsule from the leaders of countries received Pavel Osmolovsky, student of the FEFU Engineering School. The message says that the creation of the palace will bring up the highest-class athletes who “will maintain an unchanged adherence to the fundamental principles of judo, the values of a healthy lifestyle.”

The founder of the ‘gentle way’ (this is how ‘judo’ translated from the Japanese) Jigoro Kano considered one of the main qualities of judoists is the desire for self-development. “It does not matter if you are better than someone. It is important, whether you will be better than yesterday. And this rule, like other judo ideas, does not lose its relevance, they pass down from generation to generation, uniting countries and peoples. Judo is more than a sport. This is a special philosophy and a way of life,” the message says.

Within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum, Far Eastern Federal University held several international events aimed at developing Russian–Japanese relations. FEFU hosted a Russian–Japanese student forum; the university judo club and the Center for the Study of Russian–Japanese Relations, the first on the territory of the two countries, were opened there.
