A representative office of Amity University (Republic of India) and the Center of Excellence for Yoga and Research were opened at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) within the framework of the V Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on September 5. The ceremony was attended by university by FEFU President Nikita Anisimov and Amity University Group Vice Chancellor Gurinder Singh.

We are strengthening cooperation with the Republic of India and plan to expand our interaction. I am sure that Russian students will have an excellent opportunity to study in India. We are also waiting for Indian students who will be able to study the Russian Far East and share these titles already in their own country”, said Nikita Anisimov.

“India and Russia have traditionally developed very close friendly relations. If you come to our university, you will find more than 5,000 Indian students who study Russian. We are also going to open a representative office of your university and the Center for the Study of the Russian Language. Now, India and FEFU will help each other in exchange programs”, said Gurinder Singh.

Development of educational ties between the two countries was discussed during the visit of the Indian delegation to FEFU in August. Then the parties continued the dialogue that began in June at the exit session of the WEF Eastern Economic Forum in India, following which FEFU President Nikita Anisimov made proposals to intensify Russian-Indian cooperation in the field of education, science and high technology. There are all prerequisites for this, including many years of experience in interaction, the interest of students and scientists of the two countries in the training and implementation of joint projects.

Currently, more than 200 Indian students are studying at Far Eastern Federal University, most of them are the students of “General Medicine” program. At the same time, the Department of Pacific Asia of the Eastern Institute - the School of Regional and International Studies of the FEFU is training unique specialists in India with knowledge of Hindi.

One of the key achievements of the international activities of the Far Eastern Federal University in 2018-2019 is the establishment of a network of foreign representative offices. FEFU representative offices have been opened in Tokyo (based on the University of Tokai, Japan), in Hanoi (based on the Vietnam National University, Republic of Vietnam) and in Beijing (on the basis of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China). In addition, FEFU remains the only Russian university with a branch in Japan (Hakodate, Hokkaido).
