Apr 20, 2021 - FEFU News

Students and staff of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) took part in the spring clean-up day as part of the Week of Kindness from FEFU Volunteer Training Center. On April 17, about 100 activists cleaned up the forested area of the campus, which suffered from ice-rain in November 2020. President Nikita Anisimov and Vice-President for Campus Management Maxim Vedyashkin joined the works.

The necessary equipment for the disposal of the collected garbage was provided by the Office of Vice-President for Campus Management. Representatives of educational schools, institutes and student organizations of FEFU collected more than 1,500 bags with leaves and branches. Active participants received certificates from Bicycle Rental Company “Sam Sebe Velosiped” which also supported the action with personal participation.

“Spring Eco-Challenge is an annual event that brings together both students and university staff. Last year, the forest-park area was badly damaged after the ice-rain, so we are still eliminating the consequences. Students actively help us and take care of the place where they live and study. Together, in just an hour and a half, we managed to clear a significant part of the campus. It's nice that the number of participants is increasing annually”, said Vladimir Yakimov, Director of the FEFU Cleaning and Improvement Department.

The next step of the eco-challenge will take place on April 24. To participate, please fill out a form using the link.

FEFU Polytechnic Institute was the first to take part in the eco-challenge on campus on April 5, and then “passed the baton” to other schools and institutes of the university. In May, Far Eastern Federal University will become a platform for the international campaign "Garden of Memory". Its goal is to create green monuments to everyone who died during the Great Patriotic War.
