The Summer University for students from the Republic of Belarus started with a master class on the development of soft skills at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) on July 5. Within two weeks, 10 Belarusian students will immerse themselves in international business and digital economy under the guidance of leading FEFU teachers. In addition to classroom activities, an extensive extracurricular program has been prepared for the participants: excursions, cultural and entertainment events. The international educational project was implemented within the framework of the state assignment of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The first day of classes for the participants was held in an online format. In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, before the start of the Summer University, students from Belarus underwent repeated PCR testing.

“FEFU has significant experience in organizing international short-term educational programs. More than 300 foreign students take part in summer and winter schools every year. Even in a very difficult 2020, more than 100 students from the BRICS countries successfully completed the BRICS Educational Internship Program at the FEFU campus on Russky Island. Our university remains one of the leaders in the internationalization of education in the region. In addition, recently, FEFU has taken part in a number of events to intensify interaction between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus at different levels, which will certainly have a positive effect on academic mobility and rapprochement between our two states”, said Victoria Panova, FEFU Vice-President for International Relations.

The Summer University program is based on the experience of conducting international business in Russia in the Asia-Pacific region. Students will study technology entrepreneurship, big data analytics, and the fundamentals of financial and digital security. The Summer University project uses the best practices of implementing the programs of the FEFU Academy of Management.

FEFU is developing scientific and educational cooperation with universities of the Republic of Belarus, including the Belarusian National Technical University and the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. Collaborative work is carried out under the programs of building materials science and in the field of sports training methods. Students from the Republic of Belarus actively enroll at FEFU to study in such majors as Oriental and African Studies, Political Science, Construction Engineering, Operation of Transport and Technological Machines and Complexes, General Medicine, Jurisprudence and others.

In December 2020, Far Eastern Federal University took part in the forum of the Association of Universities of Russia and Belarus, where it presented a promising outline of interaction in the scientific, educational, and technological sphere between Russia’s Primorsky Region and the Republic of Belarus.
