The FEFU Academic Choir won the Grand Prix at the International Music Festival


The Academic Choir of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) won two victories in the XXI International Music Festival "Moscow Sounds". The choir performed at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, in the hall of the Cathedral Chamber of Moscow, in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky and won the Grand Prix and Laureate of the 1st degree in two competitive nominations.

The Moscow Sounds Festival brought together more than 460 choral, folklore and musical-instrumental groups from Russia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, and Switzerland. The academic choir made its debut at the festival and was especially successful: the choir won the Grand Prix and the First Degree Laureate in the nominations “Choral Theatricalization” and “Orthodox Sacred Music”, respectively.

“At the festival, the professional choir community, including the conductors and members of the jury, was looking forward to our performance. They evaluated the level of the choir highly and noted the professionalism of the competition program and the quality of its performance,” says the conductor of the FEFU Academic Choir, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation. Elena Petukhova. – The choir gained additional recognition due to the successful holding of the "‎First Far Eastern Choir Olympiad" in 2022 in Vladivostok. And we hope that even greater victories and new titles are ahead of us.”

According to Elena Petukhova, participation in the festival of the FEFU Academic Choir attracted the attention of a large number of people to the choral art of the Far East - potential participants in the "II Far Eastern Choir Olympiad", which will be held from October 24 to October 28, 2023 in Vladivostok.

It should be noted that in May 2023, the Academic Choir performed at the First International Music Festival "Feat of Arms - Spiritual Feat" in the Main Temple of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The participants performed festive Easter hymns and compositions of Russian sacred music from different centuries.
