The opening ceremony of the first BRICS Educational Internship Program was held at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). During the spring semester, 70 foreign students from Brazil, India, China and the Republic of South Africa and 38 participants of FEFU Academic Excellence and Honors Education (AEHE) program, who have proven their high leadership qualities and motivation to participate, will receive training on the most relevant for the BRICS countries areas of Bachelor’s and Master’s courses. In addition to classroom activities, an extensive extracurricular program has been prepared for participants.

One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was the parade of flags. Representatives of the students presented international public associations of the university: the Association of Russian and International Students (ARIS), the Model United Nations of the Russian Far East (MUNRFE). FEFU Creative and Performing arts Center congratulated the guests on the ceremony with colorful performances. In the end, each BRICS student took a solemn vow.

“This program is one of the most important projects of the Russian Federation, organized as part of the BRICS Presidency in BRICS in 2020. The cultural and academic experience that students can acquire as part of the internship will make a significant contribution to the formation of intercultural dialogue and help achieve their desired goals and results in the implementation of the group agenda in each country. We look forward to the beginning of your work and are confident that the project will become a platform for the further development of socio-humanitarian ties between the BRICS member states”, FEFU President Nikita Anisimov addressed the participants.

Before the start of the educational block of foreign students passed the adaptation week. The participants visited a number of excursions, got acquainted with FEFU facilities and Vladivostok in general, got acquainted with lecturers and curators, chose elective courses. For the convenience of BRICS students, FEFU employees have developed a special mobile application that reflects the current schedule, campus map, and news.

The program includes the most relevant educational areas for BRICS member states. The training will be conducted by leading FEFU professors and foreign scientists from different universities around the world. Students will take part in lectures, research seminars will be engaged in project work, and get the opportunity to discuss the current global agenda and study Russia's foreign policy, its role in BRICS.

At the same time as the classroom activities, participants will be offered open native language lessons in a speaking club, master classes on the cultural traditions of their country, informal meetings with FEFU students, joint events with MUNRFE and the Association of Russian and International Students.

3500 foreign students from 74 countries study at FEFU. More than 180 leading professors from Japan, Germany, France, Norway, Mexico, Egypt, the USA, Australia, Great Britain, Peru and other countries teach at the university. FEFU is actively working towards internationalization and expansion of international cooperation. The implementation of educational programs is an integral part of the university integration into the global agenda and is aimed at improving competitiveness in the framework of the 5-100 Project.
