President of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Nikita Anisimov attended the Opening Ceremony of the match for the title of World Chess Champion. Russian chess player Alexandra Goryachkina and the current world champion, Chinese chess player Ju Wenjun, will play for the title. The candidates for the chess crown have already played six games. The first three meetings ended in a draw, the fourth game was won by the world champion Ju Wenjun, and the fifth game was won by Alexandra Goryachkina. In the sixth game ended in a draw as well. Now the score in the match is equal - 3: 3.

In Vladivostok, the games will be held on January 16-17, 19-20 and 22-23 in the "Blue Hall" of the FEFU campus. The meeting starts at 15:30. A tie-break (if necessary) will be played on January 24th. According to the President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation Arkady Dvorkovich, every year more and more people are interested in chess. He expressed confidence that the second part of the match will also attract many fans and beginners in this sport.

“Chess is very popular in many countries. Today's event will give additional significance to Vladivostok, to Russky Island and FEFU around the world. We would like to create comfortable conditions for the participants so that they show the best results on the chessboard”, said Arkady Dvorkovich.

It should be noted that in the framework of the match for the title of world champion, an extensive additional program will be organized, in which experienced Russian grandmasters, young chess players and numerous chess fans from Russia and other countries will take part. In particular, the first “FEFU President Cup-2020” will be held, which will bring together more than 200 strongest chess players from all over the Far East. Everyone is welcome to attend events and become participants. For this, an identity document must be presented. Special buses will run from the central square of Vladivostok, which will deliver them to the match venue at FEFU

The organizers of the match are the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the Chinese Chess Association, the Russian Chess Federation, the Government of the Primorsky Region and Far Eastern Federal University.
