"Office of the United Nations (UN)" was opened at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the international organization. The office is intended to discuss current global world problems and gain a unique experience of interaction with acting representatives of UN institutions represented in Russia by 20 organizations.

“Our university has serious international potential and unites students from 74 countries of the world. We are committed to constructive work, cooperation, and mutual respect - these are the principles on which the work of the United Nations is built. Together we plan to hold events, work on projects, as well as implement internationally significant programs for Russia and FEFU”, said Victoria Panova, FEFU Vice-President for International Relations.

The Head of the Agency for International Cooperation of the Primorsky Region, Alexei Starichkov, noted at the grand opening that the idea of creating a UN Center on the Far East in Vladivostok had been discussed for several years and FEFU was considered at the planning stage as the most promising and priority platform for this initiative.

“UN offices are open in many universities around the world. They enable students and professors to feel like they are part of a large international family. In addition, this will make it possible to disseminate knowledge about the UN to the maximum possible number of people in the world, including all regions of Russia. Together with FEFU, we will strengthen the significance of the UN in Primorye, as well as the role of the Far East in expanding international cooperation”, said Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow, Chairman of the UN Country Team in Russia.

On November 13, the Office will host the first open lecture dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the UN. The lecturers will be First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Association for the Assistance to the United Nations Alexey Borisov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow Vladimir Kuznetsov and FEFU Vice-President for International Relations Victoria Panova. The lecture will also be attended by Representatives of the Consulates General in Vladivostok.
