During his visit on September 4 to the "Russia" National Centre in Vladivostok, Vladimir Putin viewed the exhibition "The Great and Mighty Russian Language." The concept for promoting the Russian language and the personal presentation of this new space to the head of state were delivered by Liliana Voronova, Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language at the School of Regional and International Studies of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), and Member of the Presidential Council for the Implementation of State Policy in the Sphere of Support for the Russian Language and Languages of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Putin endorsed the FEFU professor’s initiative in June 2025 during a meeting of the Council for the Implementation of State Policy in the Sphere of Support for the Russian Language and Languages of the Peoples of Russia.
"I am deeply grateful to you, Vladimir Vladimirovich, for supporting the initiative. My dream, and I believe the dream of many Russian language scholars, has come true. It is especially gratifying that the first such space was created precisely in Vladivostok. The most valuable thing is that this idea was brought to life in the shortest possible time," Liliana Voronova thanked the President.
Now, children, youth, residents of Vladivostok, and visitors to the region have the opportunity to test their knowledge through play, rediscover forgotten or unexpected linguistic phenomena, and learn interesting facts and records related to the Russian language. The author of the idea believes that visitors to the exposition will realize that improving knowledge of their native language, speaking and writing it beautifully and correctly is not merely important, but it is the strength of the people and the country.
Liliana Voronova particularly emphasized the significance of the exposition for foreigners who, after visiting Russia, wish to return home with a supply of learned Russian words. Such an introduction to the Russian language becomes an incentive for them to pursue education in Russia.
It should be noted that FEFU has a history of philological education spanning over a century. The accumulated methodological experience, the presence of its own scientific school and the synthesis of academic and applied approaches in higher education enable the Departments of Russian Language and Literature and Russian as a Foreign Language to annually graduate specialists who are in demand both in Russia and abroad. Applicants from across the country enroll at FEFU to become specialists in teaching Russian as a native and foreign language, acquire skills for working in the media, and delve into the theory and history, literature, and culture as a whole.
