President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, summed up the negotiations with Chairman of the State Council of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong-un, during the press conference at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The head of Russia told the media that he was pleased with the results of the last Russia-DPRK Summit.

“We are all happy with the results of the negotiations - both I and my colleagues. Chairman Kim Jong-un is open for discussions. All agenda issues were about bilateral relations, sanctions affairs, United Nations, relations with the United States and, of course, on the main topic, on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, we discussed various aspects of all these problems”, Vladimir Putin concluded the meeting.

The meeting of the leaders of the two states took place on the FEFU campus on Russky Island on April 25. Chairman of the DPRK State Council arrived in Vladivostok at the invitation of President of Russia. This is the first meeting between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un and the first foreign visit of the DPRK leader after his re-election to this post.

“Your visit to Russia will serve the development of bilateral relations and will help us better understand how we can resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula, what we can do together, what Russia can do to support the positive processes that are happening now”, Vladimir Putin said, opening negotiations. President of the Russian Federation confirmed the readiness of the Russian side to the development of trade and economic ties and humanitarian contacts.

The DPRK leader expressed confidence that the meeting "is useful for strengthening and developing the traditionally friendly relations between the DPRK and Russia, which have deep roots."

At the conclusion, an official reception was held on behalf of President of Russia in honor of Chairman of the DPRK State Council at the FEFU campus.
