Jun 29, 2017 - International cooperation

Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) became the first Russian partner of Kindai University (Osaka, Japan). The universities concluded a memorandum of understanding and agreed to regularly exchange students of engineering programs. The beginning of cooperation was discussed at the meeting by the FEFU Vice President for International Relations Victoria Panova and Deputy Vice President for International Relations of the Japanese university Hosoi Yoshihiko.

“Despite the proximity between our countries, Kindai University does not yet have well-established relations with Russian universities. We are very pleased that it was Far Eastern Federal University that became our first partner. There is a very strong engineering school in Russia, and we look forward to fruitful cooperation in this field,” said Hosoi Yosihiko.

“Thank you for your interest in Far Eastern Federal University. This step meets the tasks of developing Russia-Japan relations in the field of science and education, agreed upon by the leaders of the countries Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe in 2016,” said Victoria Panova.

At the first stage, FEFU and Kindai University will annually exchange engineering students who will be able to take two-week, semester, and one-year internships. In the future, the universities plan to increase the exchanges and include students in other areas—Economics, Natural Science, and Biomedicine—into the program. Also, Victoria Panova invited Japanese students to the Russia–Far East international summer school in August, where they will get to know FEFU more closely.

Kindai University became the 38th Japanese partner of Far Eastern Federal University. Joint scientific projects, academic exchange programs, grant and scholarship support for talented students and scientists are being implemented with the largest universities, research centers, and companies of the country.
