Anastasia Ivanenko, the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) 4th year student studying Philology major, has returned from the educational expedition of the Russian Language Ambassadors in the Republic of Ecuador. The student of the Oriental Institute–School of Regional and International Studies taught at one of the colleges in the capital city of Quito within the framework of the international project under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
Anastasia Ivanenko worked in tandem with Ksenia Adokova from Perm. The students taught the basics of the Russian language to the schoolchildren of all ages, acquainted them with the literature, history, and culture of the country.
"Within twelve lessons we managed to teach children to read and make small dialogs, welcome companion in a different way, ask the name, learn about health, and express emotions during a conversation," says Anastasia Ivanenko. "We used interactive methods of training at lessons, played with children in outdoor games, and talked about our folk traditions."
PushkinOnline educational portal will help Ecuadorian schoolchildren to further explore the "great and mighty Russian language". The volunteers also presented this project of Pushkin State Russian Language Institute as a part of their educational mission.
It is worth noting that this expedition is not the first one for the Russian language ambassador from FEFU: last year Anastasia Ivanenko taught high school students in Kyrgyzstan. Starting from 2015 the educational campaigns have also covered Armenia, Bahrain, Moldova, Peru, and Tajikistan.
Far Eastern Federal University is a leading center for the study and teaching of Russian as a foreign language in the Asia-Pacific region and it pursues this line of actions within the FEFU Competitiveness Enhancement Program under the 5top100 Project.
