Elena Ovchinnikova, the third year student of the School of Biomedicine (SBM) at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), was awarded the international scholarship of Cheil General Hospital & Healthcare Center (Republic of Korea). The cooperation of the university with a well-known South Korean hospital was secured by the contract signed by Yuri Khotimchenko, Vice President for Medical Affairs, Director of the SBM, and Liu The-Hee, Head of the International Department of the clinic.

Elena Ovchinnikova is studying General Medicine. She is a straight A student, and besides, has already been able to declare herself in science, conducts research in the field of alternative approaches to the treatment of degenerative brain diseases, and has published four scientific articles.

"It is a great honor to receive the personal scholarship from the outstanding Cheil Clinic. I thank you for your support, I would be happy to use it to improve my knowledge and development in science to become a truly high-class professional," said Elena Ovchinnikova.

The Cheil Clinic scholarship is awarded at the Far Eastern Federal University from 2016 upon recommendation of the Directorate of the School of Biomedicine. The size of a one-time payment is equal to the cost of one-year training in FEFU in General Medicine Program and amounts to more than US$2,000 this year.

According to Yuri Khotimchenko, the cooperation of FEFU and the South Korean hospital has turned a year, but the partners had already agreed to move to a new level of relations. Cheil General Hospital & Healthcare Center is ready to receive the best students for internships, and Elena Ovchinnikova will be the first to make such a study tour.

Cheil General Hospital & Healthcare Center was founded in 1963 and is considered one of the leading in South Korea. Cheil Clinic works with universities around the world and regularly supports future doctors. In Russia, only the students from Far East Federal University and Far Eastern State Medical University (Khabarovsk) receive scholarships of the Clinic.
