Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) welcomed Bosei Maru, Tokai University Research and Training Vessel (Japan), on August 10. As part of an educational cruise, 80 international students and faculty arrived at Vladivostok Port, where representatives of Far Eastern Federal University headed by the FEFU President Nikita Anisimov welcomed visitors with 'bread and salt'. For two days, international students heard lectures on cooperation between Russia and Japan by the Far Eastern Federal University professors, took tours and familiarized with Russian culture.

Bosei Maru sailed off from Hokkaido Island on August 8. The delegation was headed by Kiyoshi Yamada, Tokai University Chancellor, FEFU Honorary Doctor. Students from Tokai University, Hokkaido University, Niigata University, and Kindai University attended lectures on Russian and international relations during the voyage. On August 11, forty students of FEFU and Sakhalin State University will leave for the return voyage together with the Japanese group. The participants will be given lectures and organize a youth forum, following which they will prepare a joint project on board.

The Far Eastern Federal University and Tokai University educational program has been organized as a part of the project called Fostering Bridge Personnel between Russia and Japan on Life Care supported by the Ministry of Education of Japan.

This is the fifth visit of Bosei Maru to Russia. In 1989, it was this 'floating university' that became the first foreign ship that entered the restricted port of Vladivostok, closed to foreigners after the Second World War. Bosei Maru also visited Vladivostok within the framework of cooperation with Far Eastern State University (currently FEFU) in 1991, 1997, and 2005.
