The honored artist of the Republic of Korea Hyun Ho Goon holds master classes for the "Hae-Don" ensemble of drummers of the Oriental Institute—School of Regional and International Studies, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU OI-SRIS). Together with the guest performer students learn a musical number, which will be presented at the largest festival of youth creativity: "Russian Student Spring 2017".

Hyun Ho Goon is a soloist of the popular in his country "DD" band. It is a unique opportunity for the students to improve their skills, so they are rehearsing from early morning till late at night.

"Students learn new pieces and create a four-minute composition from different Asian melodies. Our goal is to show national rhythms, which are represented by the various nations of the Asia-Pacific region," said Tina Sohn, the Senior Lecturer at the OI-SRIS Department of Korean Studies. "No professional artist drummer will be able to convey the full character of the Korean people through music. This must be a professional artist, owning the country's culture and traditions. This is what our students learn from Hyun Ho Goon."

It is worth noting that the "Hae-Don" ensemble of Korean drummers has performed annually at the national "Russian Student Spring Festivals" and won prizes in musical genre. Now the band consists of more than 20 students—they regularly visited the Republic of Korea, where they increase skills, practice the language, and extend their repertoire.

"We would like to perform at the gala finale of the "Russian Student Spring Festival" in the Kremlin, but to do this we need to win the Grand Prix at the regional stage of the competition. We will try our best!" added Tina Sohn.

"Hae Dong" ensemble was established at the FEFU Higher College of Korean Studies in 1995 (now the FEFU OI-SRIS Department of Korean Studies), and for more than 20 years it has actively participated in the cultural life of the University, the city, and the province. If earlier, mostly students of Korean Studies were in the band, now everyone can become a drummer. The main thing is the desire be engaged and free time.
