The Russian–Japanese Student Forum will be held at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) within the framework of the Third Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). The meeting will be held on September 4-5 and will be part of the EEF Youth Section. The participants will propose new projects for the development of Russian–Japanese cooperation in the final memorandum.

As Elena Kharisova. the FEFU Deputy Vice President for Academic Affairs, said, 17 students from Russia and Japan will take part in the forum. Young leaders of of the following leading universities are invited: FEFU, MGIMO University, RUDN University, Tomsk State University, Tokyo University, Tokai University, Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, Tsukuba University, Niigata University, Chiba University, Kanazawa University, Oita University, and Kindai University.

Students will discuss the role of the Russian Far East in strengthening bilateral relations, opportunities for partnership in the economy, medicine, education, science, culture. Experts of the projects will be the faculty members of Russian and Japanese universities, employees of diplomatic missions and ministries. In the final memorandum, participants will reflect the vision of how young people can contribute to a bilateral dialogue.

At the forthcoming EEF, Far Eastern Federal University is preparing a large block of international events aimed at developing Russian—Japanese relations. Today, both states pay increased attention to strengthening bilateral cooperation, while the leaders of the countries—Vladimir Putin and Shinzo Abe—meet at the EEF for the second year in a row. During the forum on the FEFU campus, the ceremony of laying the first international judo center in Russia for the training of top-class athletes will take place. The university judo club will open for students at the same time. Also, the FEFU will announce the opening of the Center for the Study of Russian–Japanese Relations, the first such venue in the territory of the two countries.

The Eastern Economic Forum is held annually in accordance with the Decree of the President of Russia to promote the accelerated development of the economy of the Far East and the expansion of international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The Third Eastern Economic Forum will be held on the FEFU campus on September 6-7, 2017.
