The project on the experimental cultivation of berry and vegetable crops in the greenhouse complex on the campus of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) was presented at the Day of the Foreign Investor in Vladivostok on March 20. The project will be implemented by FEFU, Tokyo University of Agriculture (NODAI), Innovation Euro-Asian Trading House LLC and Hitachi Group of Companies (HITACHI) with the assistance of the Far East Investment Promotion and Export Promotion Agency.

At the first stage, it is planned to grow strawberries in the experimental greenhouse on the campus of the university, and later to develop the cultivation of lettuce, tomatoes, as well as storage for already cultivated products. The products will be sold both in the territory of the Far Eastern Federal District and exported to Japan.

According to the agreement of the parties, the Tokyo University of Agriculture will provide the cultivation technology and seedlings, the equipment will be supplied by the Hitachi group of companies, the investor will be the Innovation Trading Company.

in December 2018, the FEFU President Nikita Anisimov, and the President of Tokyo University of Agriculture Takano Katsumi signed a protocol of intent on the project. The parties agreed that the researchers of the two countries will determine how effective the Japanese technologies are for growing berries and vegetables in the Far Eastern regions.

“This project can become an exemplary example of an effective partnership between agricultural producers and scientists of our countries”, said Nikita Anisimov. “Thanks to the cooperation, the results of the research can be implemented in full-scale production and ensure sustainable year-round cultivation of ecologically clean berries and vegetables.”

To supply the necessary equipment to the Far East, Hitachi will become one of the residents of the Russian Technopark, which operates on the basis of FEFU. For one of the world's largest conglomerates, an appropriate package of documents is already being prepared.

Organizational and methodological support to the investor is provided by the Agency of the Far East for attracting investments and supporting exports. As part of the first the phase of the project, the investor asks for support in terms of facilitating the importation of plant seedlings, necessary fertilizers, and equipment.
