Two scientific journals of Far Eastern Federal University, Humanities Research in the Russian Far East Journal and The Pacific Rim: Economics, Politics, and Law Journal, as of December 1, 2015 are inscribed in the new Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) List of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals. The leading journals of the country are recommended by The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation for publication of the research findings made in the PhD dissertations. The List includes 1451 Russian scientific journals.

According to the information received from the Office of the FEFU Vice President for Science and Innovations, as of 2015 the Higher Attestation Commission requires that each scientific journal undergoes a strict examination to be inscribed in the List. Besides, each scientific journal can now cover no more than three groups of academic disciplines, on which the articles are to be published. Humanities Research in the Russian Far East Journal can now publish articles on history, political science and philosophy. Pacific Rim: Economics, Politics, and Law Journal can cover economic, legal and political science disciplines.

Pacific Rim: Economics, Politics, and Law Journal is published by the FEFU School of Law (Editor-in-Chief is the School Director Vladimir Kurilov). The journal publishes professional in-depth discussions on the most important issues of political, economic and legal developments of the Asia Pacific countries and their interaction in the framework of integration processes. The article categories focus on getting a holistic understanding of the situation at the Russian Far East and the countries of the region.

Humanities Research in the Russian Far East Journal is published by the FEFU School of Humanities (Editor-in-Chief is the School Director Felix Azhimov), and as of today is the only interdisciplinary journal in the field of humanities in the region. It publishes all types of articles, including original research, discussion and topical articles, digests, reviews, and research chronicles. In 2015, Humanities Research in the Russian Far East Journal was recognized as "The best periodical publication" at the Fourth Siberian Interregional Contest The University Book-2015.
