Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev visited a new campus of Far Eastern Federal University, where APEC meeting will be held in September 2012. Apart from FEFU campus the President’s delegation also visited other construction sites in Vladivostok.
President took a look at the conference hall where all main activities of APEC meeting will take place, and saw sports complex and dormitory buildings for teachers and students. In the building №4 President visited a standard room for students and a fully furnished “suite”. During the APEC meeting heads of the countries will stay in such rooms. After the tour President Medvedev strolled along the sea front of Far Eastern Federal University.
After the inspection of construction units Dmitriy Medvedev said:
— I hope it will be used for centuries. Including the University that is expected to enter the list of TOP world universities.
The new campus of far Eastern Federal University will be ready in December 2011, and the Medical Center of FEFU is expected to be ready by September 2012. The Head of Closed Joint-Stock Company “Krokus” (Main Contractor) Mr. Aras Agalarov says that only high and most efficient technologies are used in the process of the construction.
Far Eastern Federal University will start moving to the Island Russkiy after the APEC meeting. As FEFU President Vladimir Miklushevskiy says, its new campus will be the best in Russia and one of the best in the world.
— It’s a real gift for Russian students: there will be a lot of sports facilities, stadiums and swimming pools. One of the most attractive places is the central building — Student Center. It will serve for creative work, studies, spending free time. There will also be a library. Undoubtedly, there are such centers in world’s leading universities, but there are very few of them in Russia, — tells President Miklushevskiy.
Besides, Vladimir Miklushevskiy stressed the importance of Federal University in Vladivostok by saying that “The construction of so powerful research and educational center in the Far East is stipulated by serious investment projects that Russia realizes here. These projects are related to oil and gas in Sakhalin, the construction of two shipyards in Bolshoy Kamen, petrochemical production facility in Nakhodka, the construction of space center in Amurskaya oblast and to many other areas. Exactly for these projects FEFU is established. Russian Federation has very strong neighbours in the Far East. And as we know, the center of world economic growth has already shifted to this area. Therefore, Russia must develop this region.”
The President of Russia Dmitriy Medvedev also notes the importance of Far Eastern Federal University. He says that it is a principally new educational cluster that will constantly develop.
— I imagine that it will be a special appeal of the region, where citizens of Russia as well as students from abroad will study. And of course, Far Eastern Federal University will become a strong educational project, which we invested a lot of money in, — added the President.
