<Title language-id="en_US">Andrey Fursenko: “FEFU plays an important role in the reputation of Russian education”

Russian Federation Secretary of State for Education and Science Dr. Andrey Fursenko visited the new FEFU campus on island Russkiy.

Afterwards, he answered the questions of the journalists. Dr. Andrey Fursenko noted that FEFU is the state project where a lot of forces and finances were invested.

— There are no such projects in Russia as Far Eastern Federal University. It is really unique and it will play a great role both in education and in positioning of Far East. We must show the world how our powerful educational complex can work.

Dr. Andrey Fursenko added that the existence of Far Eastern Branch of Russian Academy of Science and integration of academic science into the university is a great advantage of FEFU. It means students’ work at the chairs of the Academy and the lectures of FEBRAS professors at FEFU. FEFU and FEBRAS can influence the socio-economic development of the region.

— Not only Russian, but also foreign students will study here. That’s why FEFU should be a good university that will attract students by its unique educational programs. Where else can you study marine biology? — added Dr. Andrey Fursenko.

— The main principle of FEFU is close connections with employers, practical trainings and job placement for students. There are already many joint projects with big companies that need highly skilled specialists. And FEFU has such unique educational programs that allow training specialists in such spheres as biomedicine, engineering, innovative management, regional and oriental studies, — noted FEFU President Dr. Vladimir Miklushevskiy.

The university will move to the new campus in a year, but it is already obvious how beautiful it will be. Journalists asked if FEFU President took into account possible vandalism of students.

— I have a certain opinion concerning this matter, — answered Dr. Vladimir Miklushevskiy.

— I am sure that everything beautiful teaches. Of course, there will be a system of public order maintenance, but we will focus on cultural education and development of the feeling for the beauty because personality upbringing is one of the main aims of a higher education institute.

Far Eastern Federal University will be really international — not only Russian, but also foreign students will study here. According to FEFU Development Program by 2019 more than 25% of students will be from other countries. Besides, the University will attract more qualified teachers and scientists for working at FEFU. So, FEFU will provide not only good salaries, but also interesting scientific work that will be meaningful not only on a national, but also on a world scale.
