The FEFU delegation consisting of the President Dr. Vladimir Miklushevskiy, Vice-President for International Affairs Andrey Babko and the Directors of FEFU priority Schools visited several Australian universities: Macquarie University, University of Sydney, University of Technology, Australian National University, University of Melbourne, Deakin University, Monash University, University of Queensland and Griffith University. These universities are famous not only in Australia, but also worldwide — there are a many students from all over the world studying there. Moreover, there are many educational programs that correspond to the FEFU Priority Areas of Development.
Despite the fact that the delegation from FEFU visited Australia for the first time, the parties discussed the prospectives of cooperation concerning research activities, joint Master’s programs, faculty exchanges and FEFU professors’ studying English in Australian universities. Apart from that, it turned out that our Australian colleagues are interested in cooperation with FEFU in the spheres of biomedicine, marine biology, regional studies, Asian and Slavic studies.
Australian universities have already been cooperating with world leading universities, focusing on the Asian Pacific Rim countries market. The universities invest money into the development of their campuses: new campuses and libraries are being built; new systems of efficient teaching on the basis of modern information technologies are being introduced.
The next step of FEFU cooperation with Australian universities is the choice of educational programs that are of interest for FEFU Schools. Already in 2012 the first joint educational Master’s programs in English will be realized and the graduates will get two diplomas — of FEFU and of the partner-university.
Australia is one of our priorities, and Australian universities are very prospective partners. Thus, there is already a preliminary agreement that English language teachers from these universities will come to teach FEFU Professors, — informed FEFU President Dr. Vladimir Miklushevskiy.
— In future we are planning to organize internships in those Australian universities whose educational programs are interesting for FEFU.
After the trip to Australia the FEFU delegation visited National University of Singapore and the Medical Center of this university, where the parties also discussed the prospective of cooperation.
