The delegation consisting of 12 FEFU students and postgraduate students participated in the II International Forum of Northeast Asia Students, which was held on October, 31 — November, 3 in the cities of Noto and Tokyo (Japan). The delegation was headed by the Head of the Chair of Japanese Studies of FEFU School of Regional and International Studies — Alexander Shnyrko.

Forum, which theme was stated this year as "Multilateralism in the Northeast Asia", is being regularly organized by FEFU and Tokai University — one of the most active partners of the Federal University in Japan. This international event has set itself several objectives: to maintain close friendship between FEFU and Tokai University, to develop youth exchanges between Japan and Russia, to work out solutions to problems in the Northeast Asia, as well as offer new ideas for developing the basin of the Sea of Japan.

The forum involved both students, university faculties, and representatives of other universities and institutions. This year students from five countries have participated in the forum (Russia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Sri-Lanka, Nepal), representatives of Hokuriku University (Japan) have attended as observers. The work at the forum was divided into 3 sections: security, ecology and economic develpment.

Last year, the I International Forum of Northeast Asia Students was held at FEFU — the delegation of students and faculties from Tokai University arrived in Vladivostok. The forum was attended by members of Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and students from other universities of Vladivostok. Next year, the forum is planning to be held in Vladivostok again, but at the new FEFU campus on Russky Island.
