The Secretary General of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities Dr. Christopher Tremevan visited the new FEFU campus on Russkiy Island.
Dr. Christopher Tremevan spent several days in Vladivostok. He quickly established friendly relations with teachers and staff of Far Eastern Federal University, and he was very interested in seeing the location of the 2013 APRU rectors’ meeting.
Employees of FEFU’s Department of International Contacts organized an excursion to the university’s new campus. The visitors saw the 11-floor Student Center, conference halls where the presidents of Asia-Pacific Rim countries will meet, sports facilities, a swimming pool, cafes and dormitory rooms.
Only the newest technologies and materials are being used in the construction of the new FEFU campus and Dr. Tremevan appreciated the scale of work being done.“Of course, I am very impressed by the scale of the construction. I was glad to know that the buildings are almost ready both for studies and for accommodation. It is essential that the new buildings are filled with the new contents. Of course, it will take a lot of time. I think that holding the APEC Summit in Vladivostok is a real opportunity for Russia and its Far Eastern region to develop its infrastructure up to a higher level. No one has ever built two great bridges just for an international event before. And for me, as the Secretary General of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, it is important that Russia builds a university that will become the landmark of higher education in Russia.”
